Chapters

The North Carolina Archaeological Society supports and is supported by a number of independent groups across the state, two of which have become formal Chapters of the Society. Chapters hold meetings, have scheduled activities, and in some instances issue a newsletter. A portion of the membership dues paid to the NCAS by recognized chapter members is returned to the chapter to support local activities.

Active chapters within the North Carolina Archaeological Society are:

  • Coastal Plain Chapter in Greenville (for more information contact the Phelps Archaeological Laboratory, East Carolina University, at 252-328-6905)

  • Tarheel Chapter in Burlington (for more information contact deer.hunter@mailcity.com)

For information about establishing a local chapter, see Chapter Guidelines and contact the NCAS at: North Carolina Archaeological Society, c/o Research Laboratories of Archaeology, Campus Box 3120, Chapel Hill, NC 37599-3120 (Tel: 919-962-6574; Email: lisajean@unc.edu).
