Social Studies (1996 version, implemented and tested.)
- Grade 4, Goal 1: Anthropology, psychology, sociology -- the learner will analyze the characteristics of the people of North Carolina.
- Objective 3: Analyze similarities and differences among North Carolina's people, past and present.
- Grade 4, Goal 2: Anthropology, psychology, sociology -- the learner will assess the influence of major religions, ethical beliefs, and aesthetic values on life in North Carolina.
- Objective 3: Analyze economic, social, and political situations which involve ethical and moral dilemmas.
English Language Arts (2001 version, implemented but not yet tested.)
- Grade 4, Goal 2: The learner will apply strategies and skills to comprehend text that is read, heard, and viewed.
- Objective 5: Make inferences, draw conclusions, make generalizations, and support by referencing the text.
- Objective 6: Summarize major points from fiction and nonfiction text(s) to clarify and retain information and ideas.
