Lesson 5.3. Creating Your Own Rock Art
Social Studies (1996 version, implemented and tested.)
- Grade 4, Goal 1: Anthropology, psychology, sociology -- the learner will analyze the characteristics of the people of North Carolina.
- Objective 1: Identify, locate, and describe ways of living of the major Native American groups in North Carolina, past and present.
- Grade 4, Goal 2: Anthropology, psychology, sociology -- the learner will assess the influence of major religions, ethical beliefs, and aesthetic values on life in North Carolina.
- Objective 1: Describe traditional art forms and aesthetic values in North Carolina.
Visual Arts Education (1996 version, implemented but not tested.)
- Grades 3-5, Goal 5: As a result of visual arts study, the student will understand the visual arts in relation to history and cultures.
- Objective 1: Know that the visual arts have a history, purpose and function in all cultures.
- Objective 6: Recognize that cultures have different ideas about what is pleasing and acceptable (aesthetics).
