Subarea: Exploring Career Decisions (Grades 6-12)
- Goal 4: Explain characteristics that promote success in the workplace and demonstrate related skills.
- Objective 1: Demonstrate personal qualities (e.g. dependability, punctuality, getting along with others) that are needed to obtain and keep jobs.
- Objective 2: Explain the importance of interpersonal relationship skills and teamwork on the job.
Guidance (1998 version, implemented but not tested.)
- Grade 5, Goal 2: The learner will demonstrate life-planning skills that are consistent with needs, interests, and abilities by being able to:
- Objective 1: Evaluate the way that familiar jobs contribute to the needs of society.
English Language Arts (2001 version, implemented but not yet tested.)
- Grade 5, Goal 1: The learner will apply enabling strategies and skills to read and write.
- Objective 3: Increase reading and writing vocabulary through:
- wide reading;
- word study;
- word reference materials;
- content area study;
- writing process elements;
- writing as a tool;
- debate;
- discussions;
- seminars;
- examining the author's craft.
