Facilities


    The Research Laboratories of Archaeology occupies five buildings on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. Our main office and offices of our director, staff, and resident research associates are located on the first and second floors of Alumni Building. Alumni Building also houses our artifact processing laboratory (i.e., wet lab), paleoethnobotany laboratory, digital imaging laboratory, geographic information systems (GIS) laboratory, computer laboratory, general purpose laboratories, library, darkroom, archives, special collections, and graduate student offices. Additional graduate student offices, resident research associate offices, general purpose laboratories, and our zooarchaeological laboratory are located in Smith Hall. Our osteology laboratory is located at 134 East Franklin St., and our zooarchaeology processing laboratory is located in the Old Observatory Building at Mason Farm. Artifact collections are housed in Hamilton Hall.
