RLA Advisory Board Guidelines 1. Membership: The membership of the Advisory Board of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology shall consist of seven (7) appointed members (with at least one faculty member from each of the Divisions of the College of Arts and Sciences), and two ex-officio members (the chair of the Department of Anthropology and the President of the Carolina Indian Circle). 2. Terms: The appointed members shall serve for terms of three years, beginning July 1st of each year, and shall be appointed by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in consultation with the Director of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology. Appointed members shall serve staggered terms; the initial terms to be determined by lot. Terms for the two ex-officio members will be for the duration of the tenures in their respective offices. 3. Chair: The Director of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology shall serve as Chair of the Advisory Board. 4. Meetings: The Board shall meet at least once annually and upon the request of the Director as needed at other times. 5. Responsibilities: To advise the Director on matters pertaining to the activities, goals, and long range plans of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology.
