  • Caldwell Meridian Pillars
    • This view shows two brick meridian pillars that were erected by UNC President Joseph Caldwell about 1825-1826. They were placed in the back yard of his residence on East Franklin Street, now the site of the UNC system president’s home. The model is based on 17 digital photographs taken in 2015.
  • Gerrard Hall
    • This model shows the stone foundation for the south portico of Gerrard Hall on the UNC campus. The portico, part of the original structure built between 1822 and 1837, was demolished about 1900 and reconstructed in 2006. The model is based on 15 archived digital photographs taken in 2006. [See excavation report.]
  • McCorkle Drain
    • This is a small archaeological excavation in front of Alumni Building on the UNC campus which exposed the top of a stone drain dating to the 1840s. The model is based on 12 archived digital photographs taken in 2011.
  • Vance Hall
    • This is an archaeological excavation in front of Vance Hall on the UNC campus. It uncovered the remains of a mid-19th century stone drain and the base of an early-mid-19th century cellar. The 3D model is based on 27 archived digital photographs taken in 2011. A white plastic PVC drain pipe running through the center of the excavation has been removed by masking. [See excavation report.]
  • Battle Park
    • This is an enigmatic stone structure in UNC’s Battle Park that turned out to be part of an early 20th century sewage-disposal system. The 3D model is based on 34 archived digital photographs taken in 2012. [See excavation report.]
